Corduroy: Our Signature Fabric
Corduroy is one of our signature fabrics here at Rolla’s Jeans. It's distinct texture, comfort, durability and timeless style have made it a beloved fashion choice. We are so passionate about it that we craft corduroy into some of our favourite (and best-selling) fits like the Eastcoast Flare, Original Straight, and Dusters Bootcut. First and foremost, corduroy is a fabric known for its distinctive ribbed texture. These woven ridges are known as “wales” and give corduroy its stunningly unique appearance and incredible hand feel. Corduroy is usually composed of cotton as well as other fibres like elastane to allow the fabric to stretch – striking the perfect balance between comfort and style.
At Rolla’s Jeans, we offer three different corduroy fabrications. The first is Baby Corduroy, or “baby wale”. This material looks like velvet and has the most narrow width between ridges. The second is Wide Rib Corduroy – also known as “wide wale”. This corduroy has a rich appearance and a luxe tactile appeal. The final one is Regular Corduroy, which has a traditional wale weight: this is probably the fabric you’re picturing when you think of corduroy. As each wale size offers its own texture and aesthetic, we can create a range of styles to suit everyone with these options.
Perhaps our most well-known fit, the Eastcoast Flare blends ‘70s style with modern comfort. We craft these high-rise jeans from premium, medium-weight corduroy – designed to smooth and hug your curves. The leg of the Eastcoast Flare falls to a dramatic kick and is available in a wide range of colours (as well as some denim washes). Be careful; you might find yourself with a large collection once you try a pair of these.
The Original Straight is a fitted high-rise jean with a slim straight leg. Loved for its natural and effortless fit, it has been spotted on everyone from Sofia Richie to UK rockers Los Bitchos. The Original Straight features our signature back pockets for a peach-hugging fit and is perfect for everyday wear.
If you know, you know. The Dusters Bootcut is an incredibly flattering fit that offers a true high-rise waist and full-length bootcut hem. While they do look great with boots, that isn't your only footwear option when it comes to styling these jeans – especially when wearing one of our corduroy Dusters Bootcut styles. You can add further dimension to your outfit by styling them with a pair of loafers, sneakers or even sandals.
